Most people assume they don't qualify. If you rent your home — house or flat, driveway included — you do. So do flat owners, households with on-street parking, and landlords.

Do you own the house you live in?
If yes, there's no grant — driveway or not. That group was cut out in 2022 and hasn't come back.
If no — you rent, or you own a flat — there almost certainly is one, and it's worth £500. The single most common mistake we see is someone renting a perfectly ordinary semi with a driveway who never applies because they assume the grant is only for flats. It isn't.
What you get
£500 per socket — a flat rate on any install over £667. (Strictly it's 75% of the cost capped at £500, but the cap is what bites on any real job.) The rate went up from £350 on 1 April 2026, and it comes off your invoice as a discount — you're not claiming money back afterwards.

House or flat — it makes no difference. The property needs its own private off-street parking space. A rented semi with a driveway counts, and this is the biggest group people wrongly rule themselves out of.

Lodgers where the landlord or homeowner lives at the property. New builds where a chargepoint is already required by law. Anyone moving house. And anyone who has already claimed — it's one claim per person, ever, including the old EVHS scheme.
You don't need the car yet. Owning an eligible vehicle, leasing one for six months or more, using one as a work vehicle, or simply having one on order all count. Plenty of people get the charger in before delivery day.
There are several OZEV schemes running. We're an authorised installer for the three residential ones — those are the ones we can claim on your behalf today. The rest are listed so you can see the full picture.

Worth knowing
All of these are funded to 31 March 2027, and the Workplace Charging Scheme is already in its final year. OZEV also state that funding is limited and they can change or end a scheme with around four weeks' notice. That's their published position, not a sales line — if you're a landlord planning to do a portfolio, the window is finite.
The quote is a required document for the application, so it has to come before anything else. It shows the full price, the grant and what you actually pay. No deposit — OZEV prohibit it, and we wouldn't anyway.
You make the application, naming us as your installer — EVHS 14604. You'll upload our quote, written permission from your landlord or freeholder, a utility bill in your name at the address, and your tenancy agreement if renting.
They assess and confirm. Work can't start before approval comes through — installing first forfeits the grant, so we book the date once you're approved rather than before.
Half-day install to BS 7671:2024 Section 722, DNO notified, certificate through NAPIT. We claim on completion, OZEV email you to confirm it's accurate, and they pay us direct. You never chase the money.
Only an OZEV authorised installer can claim the grant, and every authorised installer is issued a number and listed publicly. Ours is EVHS 14604 — you can look it up on the gov.uk authorised installer list.
If a company tells you they're OZEV approved and can't give you a number to check, they aren't. It's worth thirty seconds before you let someone quote you on grant work.
The chargepoint has to be an approved model too. Pod Point, Ohme, Easee, MyEnergi Zappi and Hypervolt are all on the list and we fit any of them — we'll recommend based on your car's connector, your tariff and whether you want scheduled or solar-diverted charging, not on what we've got in the van.
Yes. The rule is that you rent a residential property with its own private off-street parking — it doesn't say flat. A rented house with a driveway is eligible. The excluded group is people who own the house they live in. It catches a lot of people out, in both directions.
Yes — written permission from your landlord or freeholder is a required document, not just good manners. You'll upload it with the application along with your tenancy agreement and a utility bill in your name at the address. Most landlords agree quickly: it improves the property and costs them nothing. If yours would rather claim it themselves that works too, and they can do up to 200 sockets across their properties.
Not a problem. A vehicle on order counts, as does leasing for six months or more, or a work vehicle. Getting the charger in before delivery day is common and we'd rather do it then than in the first cold week of December.
A channel is cut into the footway with a lid over it, so the cable runs underneath rather than lying across the pavement. It has to be permanent — rubber cable covers and mats are explicitly excluded. The important bit is that your local highways authority has to consent to it under their own policy, and the grant application has to evidence that consent. Councils differ, so that's the first thing to establish rather than the last.
Not as a householder — it's one claim per person, and that includes the older EVHS and Domestic Recharge Scheme grants. Landlords are different: they can claim up to 200 sockets across their properties.
Some, and it's worth knowing up front. You need our quote before you can apply, and OZEV have to approve the application before we're allowed to start. So a grant job isn't a this-week job — get the quote early, apply, and we'll book the date once you're approved. Fitting it before approval forfeits the grant entirely, which is why we won't do it that way round even if you'd rather we cracked on.
No. OZEV rules prohibit authorised installers from seeking or accepting advance payments or deposits before installation. You pay in full on the day, once the work is finished and we've walked you through it.
